27th edition of the London Art Fair
Business Design Centre, Islington, N1
A highlight of the show occurs during the late night of talks on Thursday 22nd January, when Ruth Catlow, co-originatrix of Furtherfield.org, will chair the discussion "We are electrified", examining the paradoxical ramifications of collecting online and computer- generated art in the' Digital Age'.
A must for lovers of photography, the Photo 50 sector of the fair features 'Against Nature', an exhibition of photographic installations curated by Sheyi Bankale of Next Level projects. It takes its inspiration from the rich, Symbolist imagery of the fin-de-siecle novel written by French author JK Huysmans in1884 which changed public perceptions of what was 'natural'. Bankale is interested in how the notion of what photography could be changed too over that period, and sees this current show he curates as continuing the experimentation of existing photographic forms.
