"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Mahatma Gandhi
Whether wild, domestic or famed all animals should be loved and cared for. They fill the world around us with character, often amusing us and keeping us company. However, they are also a daunting reminder of savageness and brutality that the animal kingdom is full of.
David Blair shows us the creatures capable of this in his paintings of the big cats, however he shows us their more caring nature in 'Tiger Caress' and 'Guardian'.
Katie Skypala shows us some more gentle creatures, puffins. Taken in the Farne Islands, 'Flying Puffin' catches one in full flight with what appears to be its dinner in its beak.
Liz Sirett gives us some warming and rather amusing artworks of dogs on the beach, demonstrating manís best friend's capacity for friendship in, 'Beach Game' and 'Beach Race'.
