"Passion makes the world go round. Love just makes it a safer place."................. Ice T.
What is LOVE in 2016? The "Same as it ever was?" Has it gone through "Ch-ch-ch-ch- changes?"
Just as musicians can rephrase it and give it a different spin, so too do our visual artists, here at Londonart. True enough, you will find the well-loved traditional imagery such as Stephen C. Kenny's "Romeo and Juliet" but you may also find love for inanimate objects, as in Peter Santi's kitsch consumerist items from the 50's, portrayed as Greek icons.
Alice Andreoli gives Classical Latin inscriptions to her tattooed punks, striking disaffected poses and abstaining from affection. While Ralph Shephard's perceptive drawings on card portray a sensitive femininity in the arch of a stockinged heel or the "Soft Words" of a hushed phone conversation.
