Heard takes her inspiration from the accumulation and hoarding of material possessions.
Working as a ‘psychological’ detective Heard investigates the clothes, objects and interiors of a variety of individuals, allowing her to form a picture of the owners personality and aesthetic. Familiarising herself with the objects sentimental significance and value allows her to translate their ‘personality’ on to the canvas.
Her ability to transform collections of indigenous, domestic objects, in to precious, alluring ‘gems’ comes from her aptitude to capture the personality of the owner within the everyday objects and items she portrays.
Using a loose grid like structure Heard arranges the objects to determine the dynamics of the gathering. Each collection of objects exhibited on a background of vibrant, fervent colour. Accentuating and commending the objects individual beauty and exquisite detailing. Her sense of timing and balance illuminates clues to the objects original environment, giving the viewer an intriguing insight in to the personality of the owner.
