Born in 1964 in Katowice, Poland, Hanna Stachowiak came to art at an early age. Before she had reached her sixteenth birthday Hanna had already won a host of painting and drawing competitions, including the Shankar International Children’s Competition, New Dheli, India - an event which recognizes exceptional talent on an international scale. This early artistic success compounded her desire to paint and after six years of long hard study she graduated form one of Poland’s most respected Fine Arts Academy’s in 1991.
Since completing her formal training, Stachowiak has established herself as one of Poland’s most popular artists. Specialising in Landscape, Portraiture and Still Life painting she is an Art Collectors dream. Her work has consistently developed over the last sixteen years, growing in its maturity and popularity and is now held in private collections across Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and the UK.
Striving to achieve a harmony of tones, her work contains a pleasing balance between light and dark. Unable to escape the uplifting effect of light, her delicate works are enhanced by the smooth backgrounds on which they are often painted. Reflecting her own life philosophy, her work is beautiful, uplifting and optimistic. In works such as ‘Forget Me Not’ and ‘Flowers’, her cool pallet and attention to detail create a sense of fragility and delicateness, while in contrast her landscape paintings ‘Mother’ and ‘Where are you Cat’ use a warm pallet to create a sense of tenderness.
Whether it is her series of humorous work such as, ‘Pipi’ and ‘Cat with Bird’, or her symbolic Indian series of works created in the early 2000’s, Hanna Stachowiak’s paintings reveal a genuine kindness and sincerity for her subjects that is refreshing honest.
Specialising in oil on canvas Hannah Stachowiak currently lives in Cracow, Poland.
