Manali Jagtap Nyheim
In the past, lovers of art would have to take time out of their life to tour the great artistic centres of Europe and the world in order to view stylistic developments and different interpretations of artistic beauty. At LondonArt we feel incredibly lucky that today, artists from around the world seek us out to display and sell their work, meaning our customers can take a grand tour from the comfort of their home. Manali divides her time between India and the UK, making unique, expressive and truly contemporary artworks. By taking a wide range of abstract concepts as a starting point, her work expresses the inner life of the artist and of us all. She explores many themes, such as ‘hope’ and reflection’, infusing her work with a tangible spirituality. Her paintings do not fret the small things and goes straight for the big questions that burst forth in each life; what is the spirit? How could I describe my soul? Manali has been creating mixed media artwork for ten years now, and has worked on numerous exciting collaborations that stretched her creativity in new, adventurous ways. Having graduated with an MA in Art and Politics from Goldsmiths College, she is now really hitting her stride, creating visually stunning and conceptually thought provoking artworks.
Manali has also worked as a graphic designer within the film industry, and this work has helped her hone her skills of expression. Huge ideas and concepts are condensed into beautifully actualised visual nuggets. Each work brims with ideas and inspiration, and yet sits simply and elegantly on the wall. The colours and forms she uses are incredibly pleasing on the eye, yet under the surface, vast lakes of emotion and ideas shimmer. Whether using muted blues and blacks to show the thoughtfulness of ‘dilemma’ or the streaking reds, cracking through the exterior in ‘hope’, the artist uses complimentary colours to craft striking and beautiful canvasses. At LondonArt, we like artists who paint the human experience with heart and compassion. We like artists who ask big questions and respond to them in eye-catching ways. We like artists who push themselves and try something new. For all these reasons we are proud to be associated with Manali and are sure you will enjoy her work as much as we do.
