Rebecca Elizabeth Blow
Born in Australia, Blow has been inspired by her many visits to Thailand and the culture's representation of the human face and figure. She has worked on a series of drawings based on masks and Buddhist icons. Her expressive drawings and paintings often utilise a unique approach in using marker crosses to anchor the forms in place. She works energetically to endow figures with weight, using a dense, black line. Her work possesses humour yet also great pathos, starting from life with quick sketches then back to the studio to develop the composition.
