Vincent Au

Vincent Au has been fascinated with portraiture since he was a small boy. His love of drawing people began at a very early age and has eventually led to a successful carer as a figurative artist.

Vincent hopes to capture the 'moment of the sitter', their personality and character through a controlled use of light shadow, tone and colour.

Inspired by a number of the great Masters he draws on specific areas of their talent to help him create his work.

"I look at Leonardo Da Vinci as a great source of inspiration; his work has helped me develop my own style of cross hatching. I am inspired by Caravaggio the master of light and shade, Turner for his dynamic movements of wind and waves, and Klimt for his decorative, personal and sensual paintings. I also like Freud for his dynamic poses and his sitters tend to be full of character".

Recently completing his studies at The Slade School of Art Vincent Au specialises in oil on canvas and oil on canvas board.

Vincent Au would prefer to work from photographs that he has taken himself. He will visit you in your home to take a selection of photographs and make a number of preliminary sketches to work on when back in his studio. However, if this is not possible, he will agree to work from a range and selection of photographs provided by the client.

Depending on the nature of the commission, his prices and sizes are very flexable and depend entirely on the nature of the commission.

To give you a general idea of his prices and sizes and the length of time he might take to complete a portrait, please see below.
