Edwina Hannam - Commission a portrait
Edwina Hannam

With over twenty five years of experience, Edwina Hannam is a very accomplished portrait artist. Edwina’s main emphasis is centred on the small exquisite details of the human face, and she particularly focuses on the eyes of her subjects. “I love emphasising the individual’s characteristics and representing them in really detailed brush work.” She says. “I recently painted someone where the eyes were so strong and alluring, she didn’t want me to finish the other features, just sketch them in – and it really worked.”

Edwina Hannam completed an MA from Central St Martins in 2005 which culminated in a final project that studied the human face and eyes. Having initially been trained as a Natural History Illustrator, Hannam has undertaken a huge variety of animal portraits. Her love of detail and observance is a quality which translates well to the human face, and over the last twenty years she has completed an impressive list of people portraits. One of her most recent portraits was exhibited at the Sunday Times Watercolour Exhibition, at the Mall Galleries.

Preferring to work from photographs which are to be provided by the client, Edwina Hannam specialises in in watercolour, acrylic, gouache, pencil or pen and ink on specialist paper or board. For a pen and ink portrait measuring 10cm by 10cm her prices start at £175. For a large Pen and ink drawing 40cm by 40cm her prices start at £400. If you were wishing to commission a painting her prices start at £400, depending on the nature of the commission. All commissions could take anything from a week to ten days to complete.
