Thomas Griffin - Commission a portrait
Thomas Griffin

Tom Griffin has been working as a portrait artist all his adult life and while he does paint other subjects too, he feels a natural affinity with the human face and form. His style ranges from very detailed and realistic to a looser, more impressionistic approach but he always tries to capture something of the essence of the subject and is he tends to pay particular attention to the eyes.

Over the years Tom has painted dozens of private portrait commissions for clients all over the UK and around the world and has work hanging in various galleries. He works in a variety of media including oils, acrylics, pastels and pencil.

Tom prefers to work from photographs, either taken by the client (if of a sufficient standard and suitable pose) or by Tom himself. He is happy to travel to the client or to be visited at his studio near Spalding, Lincolnshire.

Prices vary depending on medium, size and the number of figures involved. An 30x40cm pencil study of one figure will be around £250, ranging up to around £2500 for a 150x95cm oil portrait involving several figures. Completing the portrait will take between three weeks and two months.

Tom is very happy to consider any kind of commission and welcomes ideas and discussion with the client before the painting begins.
