My recent work in print has been about exploring constructed space, from a geometric abstraction, to a direct representation of urban architecture. The development of my images have come from a background of photographic research that has influenced me to create works with a central composition and that being composed from one point of view, gives an exaggerated impression of perspective.
I am influenced by the scale of structures in modern urban environments and the immersive presence that they have over the individual. I take inspiration from minimal artists such as Sol Le Witt, Richard Serra and James Turrell.
The proccess of printmaking has been integral in developing the constructive nature of my works. I mainly work in monochome through etching, drypoint and collograph. The difference in the scale of work produced is extreme going from 1cm square plates to my most recent multiple collograph print that was 2 x 2.5 metres.
