When the creative spirit of one's soul is denied, the soul becomes prey to stress, chaos, and confusion.
Through my own recent artistic development, I have come to the awareness that deep within each of us exists talent and a need to express it. There is uniqueness in everyday things and a mystery and sensuality that every body has to offer. It is time to explore it.
My interest in recycling and rebirth; creating a new life and meaning to something that already exists, that already has a foundation and history, directs even the medium and technique I have chosen for my art.
The end result comes from a multi-step process beginning with black & white photography that can involve basic 35mm prints and/or digital photography. Many of the images are from my own photography and many are found at flea markets, fairs, and from friends who are photographers. The images are entered into my computer where I spend time colorizing the subject to bring forth a new meaning and perhaps a new life to the person or object. When I achieve a certain result, I create a color image. My new photo is taken to the studio where using different liquid transfer mediums the image is transferred to watercolor paper using the pressure of an etching press or hand-held brayers. Pulling back the photo I never know exactly what I’m going to get. Sometimes genius, sometimes scrap for a future collage. It keeps the process alive for me everyday.
Each print is individually created by hand and is an original individual work of art so no two are alike. These are not giclée prints or laser copies.
