Tate Sisters

Emeline and Claudia Tate are sisters and artists. They have participated in thirty exhibitions in London and eight in the USA. The Tate Sisters continually display art in their house in London and use the ground floor as a gallery which is open by appointment.

As siblings, they exert a constant influence on each other when developing their art, providing one another with a steady stream of both inspiration and constructive criticism. Bold colours, images and typography are used to express their ideas which are inspired by things seen and by personal experiences. Acrylic, oil, gloss paint or ink is then applied in blocks, or stenciled. They are also interested in using plaster to give the painting more depth and encourage shadows.

Emeline moved to California in 2005, while Claudia continues to live and work in London. This is an exhilarating and challenging time for them both. An ocean apart, they are maintaining their artistic collaboration online, sending photographs of work in progress to each other through cyberspace.
