Anne-Catherine Phillips

Born in 1953, Anne-Catherine Phillips graduated from the Camberwell School of Art in the 1970s. She had many solo exhibitions during her career, including London shows in Cork Street, Albemarle Street and the Menier Gallery in Southwark. Her work consisted mostly of oil paintings on canvas and encompassed still life, landscapes and seascapes, portraits, nudes and domestic interiors. Generally figurative in style, it was heavily influenced by her love for the French post-impressionists especially Bonnard and Veuillard. She lived the last twenty years of her life in Kent, inspired by the countryside of the Kentish Weald. The complete catalogue of her life's work runs to more than 1,600 paintings together with a substantial number of etchings and pastel drawings. She died in April 2014.
