Lesley Finney's artwork is not only decorative, with an all-over patterned intensity and is full of surprises."Arctic (aquamarine)" provides a landscape with a very distinctive colour scheme which is highly unusual but feasible. Contrast this with "Priceless" which uses gold leaf and has a relief-like quality but which seems to herald the importance of having a heart. Finally "The Edge of Reason" is an imaginative landscape which at first glance looks like waves, perhaps parting like those of the Red Sea in the biblical story. But it could similarly be cliffs: either way, the viewer is brought up short against a vertical face, the testing of one's limits. This is certainly art that communicates well. |
