As her paintings of the Yorkshire Dales attest, Barbara Rawcliffe is an accomplished painter with a perceptive feel for capturing the vagaries of our beautiful British landscape. But added to this are wonderful lyrical details which animate her compositions and give a feminine appeal. Indeed works such as 'Walking Home' and 'Walk in the Forest' in their sureness of line, solid colour and paint application put one in mind of the beautiful paintings of Winifred Nicholson and Paula Modersohn-Becker. |
