The delicate landscapes that Alison King paints have a quite unusual colour palette. Where one might expect a field in vivid green, one sees instead washes of mauve, mustard, turquoise, chartreuse and coral. These are combined ever so subtly to suggest the play of light over wide open spaces. She delights in the little dramas of rippling lake edges, shining white birch boughs, gurgling rapids and reed beds. |
