Natasha Rosenbaum

Natasha Rosenbaum was born in 1960 in the Gorlovka, Donets region which is now the Ukraine. Natasha grew up there until the age of 16 when she moved to St. Petersburg, where she currently lives and works. "Natasha Rosenbaum's work perfectly illustrates the relevance of contemporary Russian painting and embodies its significant role in the current European context. Her use of volatile colours suggests many art historical predecessors, including Velasquez, Degas and Modigliani, among others." Fabio Adler. In 2003 she represented Russia at the 4th edition of the Florence Biennale. Her work is represented in both public and private collections in Russia, USA, Israel and Canada.

Fabio Rota

The figures in Fabio Rota’s paintings often take inspiration from mythical characters and themes. Inherent within all of Rota’s works, is a powerful feeling of intense pain and anguish. This is somewhat created by the positioning and form of the elongated figure, tension of the muscles and tightness of the skin and by the way in which all his figures are encapsulated, often disappearing in to a dead blackness.

Nicola Rowley

Nicola Rowley creates touchingly tender ink drawings and powerfully stark concentrations of relationship in oils. She seems to have an unerring ability to find the 'right' arrangement of bodies in relation to one another and they speak volumes. It is no surprise then that Nicola's work is in many private collections; as to be able to picture the language of the heart in this way is a rare talent.

Svetlin  Rusev

In his more intricate works, Svetlin seems to take the geometric patterns of Op-art and gives them an organic makeover, creating a vibrant collision of recurring motifs that swirl and tangle as if given a life of their own. 'Orange Bird' has a simpler composition, though the result is no less exotic.

Peter Rutty

"My main choice of subject, my passion, is the human figure. While initially being fascinated by the detail of the bone, muscle and skin; my painting is now more concerned with the mass and character of the pose and the figure and the relationship to the immediate environment. I do not view a figure painting as a figure against a background, but rather as a unified whole where all the elements have value; in effect a figure landscape. " Peter Rutty. After successfully completing his study at Hornsey College of Art Peter Rutty spent several years working in advertising before setting up his own Graphic Design Company. Peter designed the principal exhibition for the first United Nations World Congress on the Human Environment which was held in Stockholm. Having always painted Peter retired form Graphic Design in 1998 to focus solely on his figurative painting.

Landscapes, seascapes as well as abstract paintings are the various other subjects which are explored by her. Her paintings are unique in their style of execution as they represent more of architectural work on canvas..." See artist statement for more info

Elena Sakharnaya

Russian artist Elena Sakharnaya produces exquisite fine art collage pieces which are delicate and well crafted. Here at Londonart, she shows a series comprising decorative plates and Venetian masks from the Commedia dell Arte. Both the plates and the masks have a sumptuous feel, recalling history, mythology and decadence. In that sense they may be thought of as being somewhat influenced by Art Deco; indeed Russia was highly influential in the Art Deco movement as evidenced in the designs of the stage and costume designer Leon Bakst. In this sense, by working on top of the masks themselves, Elena reinscribes this early twentieth century aesthetic to create objet d'art which are quite unique both in themselves and to Londonart.

Roberto Salazar

The elemental, and mythical themes explored in Roberto Salazar's work belie its digital foundation. Each work strives to dramatise its title theme through texture, mood and the power of the elements. The common intent of each piece is to create a glaze of immediacy while endeavouring to suggest greater forces at work. Roberto Salazar currently lives and works in Brighton, UK.
