Hung Vu Quang

Hung Va Quang is a Vietnamese artist who recently exhibited work at the prestigious 5th Beijing Biennale in 2012. His eloquent portraits of women shown here in traditional clothing are masterful and highly accomplished. They are painted with a good use of light and dark with vibrant colours and capture an excellent likeness. Hung Va Quang's portrayal of the wrinkled face of an anonymous "Old Woman" transforms her lines of age and experience into something more lyrical bordering on the fantastic as he brings energy and light to her characterful features.

Paul  Wadsworth

How does an artist paint pure joy? What is in certain combinations of colours and forms that makes a work speak out with a childlike wonder? The art of Paul Wadsworth does all of those things and more. Thickly applied paint gives the work a really organic feel, tempting the viewer to reach in and play with the colours. The textures and heavy brushstrokes combine to convey verve and vitality, the lines running like children across the work. As the light fades on a beach in late summer the sky comes alive with a multitude of colours, all captured by Wadsworth in these works. I find it impossible to look at these paintings and not be transported to a joyfully warm day when problems are far away. Reds, turquoises, and yellows light up the artwork like fireworks in a clear sky and leave the viewer with a lifted spirit and a happier heart. Any room would be lifted by the addition of a Paul Wadsworth for a little slice of happiness.

Audrey Walas

The most striking element of the paintings of Audrey Walas is the heightened use of chiaroscuro, applied in the paintings here to both horses and female nudes. There is a mystery aroused by this technique as applied to these subjects, the horse perhaps in some way standing in for the sensitive, highly strung aspects of the female psyche. Mist, breath, attention... in short: the intangible is the focus of Walas' oils on canvas, which convey an unmistakeable air of atmosphere.

Józefina Walczak

Józefina Walczak, breaths life in to her art through her experience of living. The inspiration for her art is drawn directly from every aspect of her life. This holistic approach has developed a heightened ability to observe and record the world around her. Each piece of art maps her observations and experiences and contains a history of her thought processes. The final piece is the result of a layering of thoughts, added and subtracted, until she finds a harmony.
