Aleksandra Poplawska

Aleksandra Poplawska is a Panel and Wall Painting Conservationist. Spending days, weeks and months looking at old and often rare paintings has greatly influenced her own art. The attention to fine detail and precise observation required in her work has not only helped her to acquire an empirical knowledge for painting techniques, mediums, and compositional layout but has given her greater understanding of artistic style and expression of thought. It seems obvious to say that her work is not only influenced by her chosen subject but by paint and painting itself.

hector javier ramirez

Searching for answers to some of the oldest and most philosophical of questions, Hector Javier Ramirez is fascinated by the sublime. Focusing on the darker side of the equilibrium, his work explores our fundamental values and humanist qualities, bringing them to life on a pretty impressive scale. Measuring not less than a metre high, Ramirez’s paintings and charcoal drawings dominate their hanging space and leave us immersed in their presence. “My work is about the loss of human values and how the animals are more human than the human - we fight, we kill, just for pleasure”. He says, addind “I dont like the beautiful bodies and perfect forms, I like the grotesque, the ugly people, the fat people.” Ramirez 2007.

Dariusz Romanowski

“One of my chief concerns is attempting to make idea and technique inseparable. Painting in this sense tends towards a complete interlocking of image and paint, so that the image becomes the paint and vice versa” says Dariusz Romanowski. A painters painter, Romanowski believes that the “brushstrokes create the form and not merely fill it in.” His paintings in every detail recreate “…a particular sensation with renewed poignancy in the desire to live through it again with a different kind of intensity.” Romanowski’s own talent coupled with his desire to create work of a higher and timeless quality transports both him and his work into the realms of greatness.
